Wilbert Montgomery is in his sixth year as the Ravens’ running backs coach. Montgomery has 26 years of NFL experience (nine as a player) and has built an impressive track record in his 17 years of coaching. Led by Pro Bowler Ray Rice, Baltimore’s backs have been stellar over the last few years under Montgomery’s guidance. Earning his third Pro Bowl invite in 2012, Rice totaled 1,621 scrimmage yards (1,143 rushing and 478 receiving), the NFL’s ninth-most, and added 10 total touchdowns. It marked his fourth-straight season with at least 1,600 yards from scrimmage. Rookie RB Bernard Pierce emerged in 2012, averaging 4.9 yards per carry (108 rushes for 532 yards) with 1 rushing score. Rice led the NFL with 2,068 yards from scrimmage in 2011 and was second in the league with 1,364 rushing yards. He also set a team mark with 15 total TDs and was second in the NFL among RBs with a team-high 76 catches (704 receiving yards). In 2010, Rice posted the NFL’s third-most yards from scrimmage (1,776).
